You’ve seen it before. Good looking 20-somethings drinking and laughing, seemingly having the time of their lives. Throw in a subtle brand visual and voila! The lifestyle video is born.

A lifestyle video is a simple term for an in-depth videography style. So what’s in the secret sauce that makes these video work so well?

Hardcore FOMO

Lifestyle videos are selling, without telling you they’re selling. They get the viewer hooked on the culture, fun, and “lifestyle” that surrounds a product or service.

In other words, they sell an experience rather than just the product itself. These videos work because (if done well) they’re glamorous, enticing, and make the viewer say “I want to be a part of that!”.

Lifestyle videos also work well because of how versatile they can be. It’s not all bloody mary’s and bubbly. They can be tailored to reflect a lifestyle that turns your target audience green with envy.

As such, lifestyle videos work well for almost any brand or business. Don’t take our word for it, take our work. We specialize in apartment lifestyle videos that showcase a day-in-the-life feel exploring neighborhoods around a prospects future digs. Like this one below:

Living Your Best Life

The best part about a lifestyle shoot is how much quality content they can produce. Along with the video, you can also capture photos, BTS, testimonials, drone aerials, and repurpose clips for Reels, TikTok, Youtube and more.

They’re a blast to shoot, but that doesn’t mean they’re easy. These shoots require a lot more pre-production in order to make sure all the moving pieces come together in a captivating storyline. A detailed shot list is a must, as well as a deep understanding of the target audience.

How It’s Done

Pre-production, production, editing, and distribution. For lifestyle videography, pre-production is key. Do your research, people! Find out a little more about your customers. You need to at the very least be able to answer:

  • Who are the people you are trying to reach?
  • What kind of lifestyle do they live?
  • What kinds of activities would they be interested in seeing?
  • How can I incorporate my brand into those activities?
Answering those questions ensures you understand your audience and helps you begin to translate your ideas into actual scenes for filming. Remember, there is no “one size fits all” for a lifestyle shoot!
